Why do you drink water with apple cider vinegar?
It helps me digest and has wonderful health benefits - I would never do a full on detox or cleanse, but ACV is gentle enough on your system to use every day. You can see my full explanation here :)
Do you count calories?
I now pay more attention to the nutritional value of foods rather than just their caloric value. However I go in and out of counting - when I stop seeing progress, I check back in with my calories to make sure I’m not going too far under or over.
Do you study nutrition or something related to health?
Nope! I am just passionate about it and find what our bodies do with exercise and nutrition very fascinating! I am a fourth year fashion design student (in a five year program) in Cincinnati, interested in designing knit wear or active wear.
Why don’t you eat meat?
I am a pescatarian for digestive reasons. When I was in high school, I stopped eating meat (but not fish) and felt great - energetic, no stomach problems, etcetera. When I got to college I went back to eating meat since I was on a meal plan and going out with friends all the time, and it was harder to maintain. However I noticed some changes - I was feeling bloated all the time, had stomach aches more than normal, and feeling a great loss of energy. After eliminating dairy thinking I was lactose intolerant, then soy, and then gluten, and finding no solution, it finally hit me one day that in high school I never felt bad and I didn’t eat meat. I went back to being a pescatarian and in days felt amazing once again. My body just has trouble digesting meat protein, and it slows down my digestion process too much and causes bloating for me. Fish, however, never seems to give me a problem!
